Final evaluation of my contents page

This is the final version of my magazine contents page, made on In Design.

The gradiated text boxes are similar to those on the front cover, as is the colour sheme in the mast head, which would give the magazine a sense of continuity. In the text boxes, information about which articles are on which pages inside the magazine. In the boxes on the right hand side photos would go to illustrate what was in the magazine that week.

The text boxes are positioned in a neat line at the side to make the page look organized.

Final evaluation of my magazine front cover.

This is my final front cover for my college magazine created in InDesign. The font in the masthead is in two colours to make it look more interesting and I have chosen font colours that I think stand out without clashing with each other.
I have named my magazine SDC Weekly because it explains very simply that this is a college magazine and that it comes out once a week.

The text used for the main flash is more bold then the fonts for the other articles to show that it is the most important article and so that the readers eye is draw to it first. Also the article featured here "Meet you new student councillor" is used because it is something that would appeal and is relevant to most students at the college, so it would work well as a main article.

The rest of the text is in a clear easy to read font and the black text on the white background makes it stand out.

The date and issue number are considerably smaller than the information in the main sells because they are less important for the reader to see immediately, but they are still easily readable.

The text box along the bottom which reads "College magazine of the year!" is in smaller letters then the mast head so it does not draw attention away from it but it is larger than the main sells because it is an important piece of information.

The main image I used dominates the page without drawing too much attention away from the text in the sells. The subject is making eye contact with the camera and is well positioned but this could have been improved if the subject was smiling.

Photo used for my front cover

This is the image that I used for the front cover of my magazine. I chose it because the subject is making eye contact with the camera and also there is nothing going on in the background of the picture which would distract focus from the subject. Also the person is visible chest upwards which is traditional for most magazine covers.

The photo could have been improved if the light had been better when it was taken as it does look slightly dark, and also if the person looked happier and was smiling more.

Photo not used for magazine front cover

This is a photo I took but that I did not use for my magazine front cover because the subjects eyes are closed so he is not making eye contact with the audience. Also the person does not look relaxed or happy which would not send out a positive message to the magazine reader.

Draft of the layout of my contents page

This is a flat plan I have drawn for my contents page. Down the left hand side of the page is a list of all the articles that I will have in my magazine . Next to these are the page numbers that each article will be on.The title of the page is located at the top of the page so that it is immediately clear to the reader what the page is for. It is also in a bold font that makes it stand out from the rest of the text on the page. The image boxes are used to fill the space to the side of the list of article.
